About

The BYU functional neuroimaging lab’s mission is to expand the understanding the human brain through neuromimaging techniques. This understanding will lead to improved treatments for neuropsychological patients and contribution of knowledge to the science of the brain. Through collaboration with the Riverwoods Neuroimaging Center we conduct functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) scans on research partipants and medical clients. Our areas of interest are widely varied and include research on Traumatic Brain Injury, Eating Disorders, Verbal processing, Executive Function, Memory, and Self-Reflection.

The FNI Lab also is equipped to perform Evoked Response Potential (ERP) experiments. Our ERP research has led to illuminating discoveries about linguistic, visual, and auditory processing and the parallels that exist between sesory modalities.

The FNILab has been active for over 5 years and has had over 20 members. The lab is headed by Dr. Mark Allen, associate professor in the psycholodgy and behavioral neuroscience departments at Brigham Young University.
